Styles include traditional short and lightweight, flat-waistband yoga pants, basic black, tight, stretched, and flexible yoga pants. These provide flexibility and comfort and keep the wearer cool and comfortable and away from body sweat or skin irritations. They can be made from cotton, lycra spandex, nylon, polyester, wool, or comparable light and bendy synthetic material which gives the pants a soft, smooth texture.
Where Did They Come From?
Yoga initially developed in India as a spiritual practice. In India at the beginning of the 20th century, the postures of medieval Hatha yoga were fused with gymnastics techniques, forming a new type of postural Yoga. This had become a commonly recognized form of exercise in the Western World by the 1990s, particularly for women. Yoga pants made of nylon and Lycra came on the market in 1998, marketed by Lululemon as the appropriate clothing for the yoga studio in her first shop in Vancouver.Yoga pants rose in popularity, to the point that by 2014 American teenagers preferred them to jeans; jeans maker Levi Strauss, faced with an "existential crisis," was forced to stretch some of his jeans further along with several other competitors in the yoga pants market.
